Hi I’m Josh, a Bioengineering PhD student in the Subramanian lab at UC Berkeley. I am interested in developing models for stomach electrophysiology that may help us uncover the origins of disorders involving the brain and stomach, from gastroparesis to migraine. I spent most of my childhood in Minnesota before attending college at the University of Chicago, where I studied Physics and Molecular Engineering. There, I was exposed to research across a variety of fields, ranging from semiconductor development to computational physics. This led me to a Masters at UC Berkeley, which I followed up with a stint in Ke Sheng and Wensha Yang’s lab investigating biomarkers for post-radiotherapy liver function at UCSF. These experiences showed me that my interests lay at the intersection of biology, medicine, and engineering, leading me to pursue a PhD in Bioengineering! Outside of research I love skiing, spending time outdoors, and learning to cook new foods. I am excited to join the H2H8 community!
