Anais Perez

I am a fourth-year at UC Berkeley studying Molecular and Cell Biology, where I am an undergraduate researcher in the Stahl Lab under Dr. Andreas Stahl and graduate mentor Jessica Ortiz. My work in the lab is contributing towards the development of a sexually dimorphic microphysiological liver-on-a-chip system. Sexually dimorphic organs like the liver play a major role in drug metabolism and therapeutic outcomes, yet this variability is often over-looked in early stage drug development. Systems like this one aim to more accurately reflect sex-specific biology, with the hope of improving drug efficacy, toxicity, and advancing more equitable therapeutic development for all patients. I am passionate about bridging science and community, making healthcare accessible, equitable, and led by the people it’s meant to serve. Outside of the lab, I enjoy baking extravagant TikTok desserts and spending time with family.
