My name is Brandon Schramm and I am a PhD candidate at the University of California, Berkeley studying theoretical chemistry under Professors Birgitta Whaley and Martin Head-Gordon. I was raised in Ohio and received my BS in chemistry from The Ohio State University, where I had the opportunity to work with Professor John Herbert to understand the fundamental underpinnings of interactions between aromatic chemical systems. Since arriving in California, I have pivoted to tackling intractable chemical problems using quantum computing. The goal is to bring all systems within the realm of simulation and enable predictive understanding of chemical motifs within catalysis, energy capture, and biochemistry.
When off my computer, I am usually in motion: walking my dog, walking my cat, running, playing spikeball, or swimming in the wonderful waters of San Francisco. I am also a deeply proud Buckeye/Ohioan and my down moments are spent watching tOSU football or one of Cleveland’s professional sports teams (painfully).
