Cincia Yun-Chieh Tsai

I am a Neuroscience PhD candidate at UC Berkeley in the Jagust and Kaufer labs, and my research combines human neuroimaging and transgenic mouse models to investigate the role of the blood brain barrier in aging and Alzheimer’s disease. Specifically, I am interested in how the hallmark proteins amyloid and tau may be associated with changes in the blood brain barrier and which pathology may precede the other. I grew up in Taiwan, Santa Barbara, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, and completed my undergraduate studies at Northwestern where I majored in Neuroscience, Physics, and Integrated Science. Outside of the lab, I am passionate about classical music – I sing soprano in the UC Berkeley Chamber Chorus and play piano and violin in chamber music ensembles with my friends. I also enjoy board games and swimming.
