Jihoon Choi

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at UC Berkeley, where I work with Professor Peidong Yang in the Chemistry Department. My research is on electrochemical CO2 conversion: using renewable electricity to turn carbon dioxide into useful chemicals such as formate and methanol. I design the catalysts and reactors that make this happen, with the goal of closing the carbon loop for chemical manufacturing. I received my BS in Materials Science and Engineering from KAIST and spent an exchange year at KTH in Stockholm. I also play tennis whenever I can! I like California’s weather!
