Serena Tang

I am a 5th year PhD candidate in the UCSF/UC Berkeley Bioengineering program. I’m interested in the role of the brain’s waste clearance system in Alzheimer’s disease, including how it influences disease processes and whether we can harness lifestyle factors that affect clearance, like sleep, to reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. Previously, I majored in Neuroscience and Physics at Johns Hopkins University and did research in the Human Spaceflight Lab, where I studied physiological and vestibular adaptation to spaceflight-like environments. Outside of work, I enjoy baking, skiing, eating, and doing anything outdoors.
