Rachel Rex is a mechanical engineer and researcher focused on developing medical devices that address significant healthcare challenges. She earned her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. At UC Berkeley, her doctoral research centered on developing microfluidic platforms to characterize single-cell mechanical properties for rapid diagnostics. Rachel currently lives in New York City and works at ReMinded, a startup developing a point-of-care device for salivary hormone tracking. Across her academic and professional work, she is passionate about translating research into practical diagnostic technologies and mentoring the next generation of engineers and researchers.

My doctoral work was in researching the intersection of non equilibrium quantum field theory and superstring theory which resulted in a randomized generalization of tropical geometry.
