H2H8 Undergraduate Research Grant to advance Humanity
H2H8 Association offers yearly grants for research to advance Humanity to undergraduate students in L&S Division of Mathematical & Physical Sciences, and the College of Engineering, UC Berkeley.
2026 Available Undergraduate Research Grants
Up to fifteen US$3,500 awards as stipend for a faculty sponsored or Explorer mentored research in sophomore, junior or senior year.
H2H8 Consideration in awarding H2H8 Undergraduate Grant
- Applicant’s potential as future H2H8 member
- Research that advances Humanity in science and engineering
2026 Application Requirements and Timeline; Deadline 2/28/2026
- Applicant must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Apply as freshman, sophomore or junior for next year research grant
- Applicant must have a faculty or Explorer sponsorship
- Submit online application at www.h2h8.com 1/1/2026 to 2/28/2026
- Zoom interview with H2H8 members March – April 2026
- Recommendation letter for qualified applicants April – May 2026
- Award announcement from MPS Division July – August 2026
- Award issued to grant recipients August – September 2026
H2H8 Pioneer Club
Grant recipients become H2H8 Explorers, and join Pioneer Club, H2H8 UCB campus community. Upon Graduation, Explorers become H2H8 alumni. H2H8 is a community for life:
- Share experiences and activities with other Explorers, and H2H8 members
- Build lifelong friendship with like-minded individuals
- Provide collaboration and mentorship with other Explorers
Explorer membership continues for 3 years after completion of education through postdoc. After the stated 3 years, Explorer will either join H2H8 membership or end H2H8 Association engagement.
